Built for Everyone
Our commitment to making AI-powered learning accessible to every student, regardless of ability.
Our Commitment
Nexus Pen is committed to building products that are usable by everyone. We believe technology should remove barriers to learning — not create them. Accessibility is not an afterthought; it is a core design principle across our hardware, software, and website.
How Nexus Pen Helps
The physical design and AI-first architecture of the Nexus Pen makes it uniquely suited to learners with diverse needs.
Voice-First Interaction
No screen required. Ask questions by pressing the button and speaking — Donna responds through the built-in speaker. Students with visual impairments or reading difficulties can learn without touching a screen.
Audio Output
Every response from Donna is spoken aloud in natural language. Adjustable volume via voice command ("Donna lower volume") ensures comfort for all users. No reading required to receive an answer.
Physical Form Factor
The Nexus Pen fits naturally in the hand like a standard pen. Students with motor challenges who already use adaptive writing tools will find the form factor familiar and unobtrusive.
Adaptive Learning Modes
Donna adapts explanations to the student's grade level and subject. This benefits students with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, and processing disorders who benefit from personalised, patient AI responses.
WCAG 2.1 Compliance Goals
We are actively working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across our website and mobile application. Our current goals include:
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios for all text (4.5:1 minimum)
- Keyboard navigability for all interactive website elements
- Screen reader support via semantic HTML and ARIA labels
- Alt text for all informational images
- Focus indicators visible at all times
- Closed captions for all video content (in progress)
- Mobile app VoiceOver / TalkBack support (in progress)
Report an Accessibility Issue
We take every accessibility report seriously. If you encounter a barrier on our website, app, or with our product, please tell us. We aim to respond within 3 business days.
When reporting, please include the page or feature affected, the assistive technology you are using (if any), and a description of the barrier.
