Our Story
Nexus Pen was born in August 2025 from a simple observation: despite living in an age of unprecedented technological advancements, the humble pen remained largely unchanged for decades.
Our Journey
From Idea to Launch & Beyond
Every milestone, in the order it happened.
Founded
Four high school students in Illinois shared a frustration: AI was everywhere except where students needed it most — in their hands while they study. Nexus Pen was born.
First Prototype
The first working Nexus Pen prototype connected an ESP32 microcontroller, a custom OLED display, and a speaker into something that actually fit in your hand. It was rough — but it worked.
Donna AI Comes to Life
Our AI assistant Donna gained her voice — real-time speech synthesis delivered directly through the pen's speaker. For the first time, you could hold a pen and talk to it like a person.
Beta Launch
50 students across three Illinois schools tried the beta. The feedback was overwhelming — and humbling. We rebuilt the firmware twice, redesigned the app, and launched five distinct AI modes based on what students actually needed.
Public Launch
Nexus Pen opened to everyone. The website launched, the app hit the App Store and Google Play, and the first production batch sold out within 10 days.
Launch & Beyond
Nexus Pen is live — pre-orders open, the app is on TestFlight, and school pilot programs are launching in Illinois. The next chapter — enterprise and international — is already in motion.
